Like the split up of survival and story mode. With game versions I mean all the different distributions yes but also everything else. I wouldn't begrudge you for holding off on it till it's done.

They have essentially placed the game back in early access with their season pass esque manner of handling the expansion. Regardless, I empathize with the annoyance of the deluge of updates. IMO, options that work with the base survival mode should work with the expansion as well since there is still only a single survival mode and not a separate one for those who bought the expansion. My "no issue" is in relation to whether a different trainer has to be created specifically for those who bought the expansion.

Apologies for my poor understanding of the situation but what do you mean by "game versions"? Are you referring to different patch levels for each platform(ie steam, epic, game pass, etc)? If so, I agree that is an issue like I mentioned in my comment. On my opinion they should work on Long Dark 2, not changing business model, wiping savegames, splitting up community and game.

So if I would have done that, what you say shouldn't be an issue, I would find myself having to update 4 trainers again, caused by just one game update. Speaking of that I see the game just patched again. But right now I would have to create a different trainer for all of their different versions and for all upcoming versions in the future. If that wouldn't be the case, you can just have one trainer that works for all. The problem is that all of their different game versions are at a different patch level. One potential issue is trouble shooting item related options for items that are specific to the expansion if CH does not have the expansion. Options like health and stamina should be dlc agnostic since health and stamina work the same way in survival, expansion or otherwise. However, it's still the same survival mode regardless if one has bought the expansion.Īs such, I don't think there is an issue with heaving to create different versions other than platform specific. Those who do not have the dlc won't be able to access new regions, challenges, items, etc in the survival mode. The only new paid dlc is "tales from the far territory" which expands on the survival mode. Those who bought the game before the recent change will have the version that comes with both so there's no need to buy the wintermute dlc. In other words, they are now selling the survival mode as a standalone. Before this, the game was just one version containing survival and wintermute.

The other more expensive version contains both the survival mode and wintermute(campaign mode). One contains only the survival mode and it is called "survival edition". The base game is now being sold as two versions. To clear up some things about the new business model of the game: In any case, I believe the plan is one update every two - three months for the next year and the Gamepass editions will be out in the next month, depending on some Variables with licensing that are up in the air, with the next major Wintermute update probably in July or August. Honestly was worried that this was going to be an issue and kept checking the requests sections to see if i should toss some money into the CH paypal. It would be understandable if y'all focused on the sandbox survival module since that's up and running without any issues currently. Unfortunately this required wiping save games due to the extent of changes made to the game project in the engine (i'm going to blame unity project tracking on that one, but garbage cleanup was vastly improved at least.) The game's default start process loads the sandbox, whereas the story mode is now essentially an external separate program. Right now they're essentially ripping the game into two halves - the story section (Wintermute) and The survival sandbox section so that they can do future updates to one or the other in a targeted manner. Yeah the Tales from the Far Territory DLC definitely borked things up.
